We have a winner!
....it is the awe-inspiring
14-year old Ruben van Eldik!
We got several amazing contributions but Ruben's was the one that spoke most to
the hearts of our jury and felt the
most musicly mature.
Ruben's love affair with music started at 2 years old - his favourite toy
played Mozart's 'Turkish march' which had him mesmerized. He started playing the
piano at 11 and cello this year. As soon as he learned to read music he started
composing piano works. He currently studies at the KSO Lemmens Institute in
Leuven.
The stunning 'Espoir' which the BCE will perform
27 April in the Grande Salle
of the Conservatoire in Brussels is inspired by Anna Boch's painting 'Les
falaises de l'Estérel' and includes a nod to
Ruben's favourite composer Stravinsky's 'Firebird'.
Ruben lives in Tervuren with his parents, two siblings and a cat, and dreams of one day
studying composition.
Join us on 27 April to witness magic when we will perform van Eldik and other
Belgian composers to honour the Belgian presidency of the Council, and Brahms' I
symphony
